A major transformation is happening in the world of tender writing, and it’s one that all businesses bidding for UK tenders need to be aware of. As of 24th February, the Central Digital Platform (CDP) will officially launch, bringing significant changes to the public procurement process.

What is the Central Digital Platform?

The CDP is a crucial part of the UK Procurement Act 2023. It is an enhanced online hub for all public sector procurement, designed to streamline the tendering process. The platform replaces the existing “Find a Tender” service and will serve as the primary location for all UK contracting authorities to publish procurement-related information.

What Does the CDP Do?
  • A Single Registration Point: Buyers and suppliers must register on the CDP to take part in public procurement.
  • Stored Supplier Information: Suppliers can save their core business details for future bids, reducing duplicate work.
  • Easier Access to Contracts: The platform makes it simpler for suppliers to find and apply for tenders.
  • Transparency & Compliance: Helps buyers meet their transparency requirements under the Procurement Act.
  • Efficient Information Management: Suppliers can update their information in one place.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: The CDP will capture procurement data to improve insights and decision-making.
Why is the CDP Important?

This is not just an optional change, all businesses wanting to bid for public sector contracts must register on the CDP and complete the Procurement Specific Questionnaire as part of the sign-up process. Without it, they won’t be able to submit tenders.
